December 2024 – From the Secretary

By Steve Forand

To All,

Winter temps are here! I was lamenting last month how warm the Fall had been. Seems that door has slammed shut. The Chicken Run was held on the first of December and the crowd was smaller than in the past, (I guess some had enough poultry and/or it was still the holiday weekend) but those who joined in were hungry and loud! Almost everyone rode, bundled up against the cold. I could have used another layer of insulation as the heated gear was cranking out heat, but it was dissipating quickly.

On the cusp of the holiday season, I always take a step back, breathe in and ponder how fortunate I am. Like everyone, I have a variety of challenges to deal with, some of them substantial. But like everyone I seek solace with family and friends and persevere. I feel fortunate to have a group of friends to lean on and hear how they approached some of their challenges. There is much to learn through the experiences of others. Thank you all.

We will be hosting dinner at the Providence Mission on Wednesday 11 December. As you know, led by Chef Vasilios, we shop, prepare and serve a delicious meal to the residents of the Mission. It requires a large club effort to be successful. If you have not yet participated, plan to join us on Wednesday.

It is time to renew your membership in the club! Please do it online if you can. I am verifying/updating the records I have for our members including address, phone number, email, emergency contact, etc. If you haven’t done that in a while, please re-enter the information so I can update our records. Thanks.

See you on Monday night! Come early for dinner and camaraderie.
