June 2025 – Rumbling Right Along

2025 MotoGP Update

Let’s start in France at Le Mans, and then on to Great Britain at Silverstone.

There are two MotoGP riders from France. First is Fabio Quartararo, (20, Yamaha Factory Team) the 2021 MotoGP World Champion, who at only 22 years old became the first French World Champion in MotoGP history. He’s fast in the races and also qualifies with the best, in fact he was on the pole for the French Sprint and the GP race on Sunday. The other current French rider is Johann Zarco, (5, Castrol Honda LCR). Zarco has done very well for himself since his MotoGP debut in 2017, with five Top Ten Championship finishes over his career (two 5th, two 6th, and one 8th place finish).

The 2025 French Grand Prix started and ended in the rain, heavy rain at times. The rain on race day is the same as any day we might experience in the rain…it sucks! But the race must go on. After several crashes, including Quartararo, Zarco found himself in the lead and held on to win only his second GP race ever, but with that victory he was the first Frenchman to win the French GP at Le Mans in seventy-one years. Obviously very exciting for him and all the French fans who stayed to enjoy a rainy day at the famous Le Mans circuit.

Two weekends later the MotoGP army found itself at the Silverstone circuit in Great Britain. Again Fabio Quartararo qualified in the top spot and started from pole, his third consecutive pole position. Unlike the Sprint race on Saturday, where he finished seventh, Quartararo was able to pull away from the pack and take a commanding lead of almost five seconds into the twelfth lap. Unfortunately for the young rider, who looked like an easy victor, the rear-end lowering device on his factory Yamaha M1 locked up, and he was forced out of the race with a mechanical failure. A sad end to his amazing run.

Aprilia rider, Marco Bezzecchi (72, Aprilia Racing) won the race convincingly, coming from eleventh on the grid. Zarco took second, and Marc Marquez was third.

So after seven race weekends here are the top ten riders for 2025:

This weekend’s MotoGP will be the GoPro Grand Prix of Aragon in Spain. See you next month with more MotoGP updates.
