Is Spring in the air? Is the tease of warmer temperatures a harbinger of Spring? Just not sure if it is going to last. At least the days are getting longer! I still have not pulled the bikes out of the garage for a Spring ride. I have been alternating the battery tender and occasionally starting them, but they have accumulated quite a bit of dust! This is the first winter I have not done an upgrade or farkle. However, I am still contemplating a new windscreen for the Yamaha Tracer.
The motorcycle industry published its annual sales statistics for 2024. Not a good year in the US. Sales are overall flat, and down for Harley and Indian.
On the other hand, BMW sold more motorcycles in the US (and worldwide) then ever before!
As we are all familiar with, for most US riders, motorcycle transportation is a secondary mode with the car/truck remaining the primary, a luxury for most. If you doubt this, just log onto ebay motors and check out the number of bikes for sale! In many parts of the world that is not the case.
Not sure what the scope of tariff implementation is going to mean for new bikes and parts and accessories, but it may cause price increases and further slowdown sales. So, hang onto your bikes, polish them up, change the oil and get it ready for the road.
