December 2024 – From the Vice-President

By John Fraser

Greetings fellow OSBMWRider members and guests! November is almost in the books and the weather has been amazing for riding! Usually November is a cold, wet month…. not this year! I have increased my riding visibility this November!

I picked up a pair of Denali D3 lights and mount for the 2016 BMW R1200GSA and added the yellow lenses. When connected to the Denali CanSmart, I can plug my laptop into the CanSmart and adjust the lights and how they react. For example, when I hit the horn,(a new Denali sound Bomb Mini), the Denali lights strobe. When signaling for a turn, the Denali lights shut off so as to not wash out the turn signals. Hopefully these will help me be seen by the distracted driving public. In addition, I put on an AdMore programmable rear brake light and turn signal unit. It modulates in a blazing red color when the brake light is activated and it’s super bright. The turn signals are a bright yellow and sequential like an old T-Bird! This is also adjustable using the AdMore phone app. Lastly, I put on AdMore LED turn signals in the front. They are a long, thin LED bulb that goes on the Barkbuster hand guards. They work in concert with the stock turn signals. Finally, the Chiggee system is running great!

It’s a device that pops right into the BMW factory GPS mount. It picks up and uses all the information it picks up from the GPS mount and displays it in different ways on any of the four different digital dash boards that it can display. It displays my speed, engine temperature, a digital tach, external temperature, the gear I’m in, etc., all in a display that is MUCH easier to read than the stock analog dash display. It also gives me Apple Car Play and all the benefits, such as 3 different GPS programs, phone info and streams my Apple Music to my SENA head set. All of this content is accessible with the BMW Wonder Wheel. Anyway, that’s all the bike news for today!

Hope everyone enjoyed a great Thanksgiving!
