Greetings! Things are looking colorful! I love this time of the year, with the foliage and the cooler temperatures! To me, the best time of year for riding!
Over Labor Day, I attended the RA Rally in Fryeburg, Me. To some, the turnout was a disappointment. Keeping in mind that the RA is a smaller group than the MOA, attendance was around 800. Probably light as it was on a holiday weekend, usually reserved for family get together, and in the eastern part of the country. Next year, the RA Rally will again be on Labor Day weekend, in Athens, Ohio. This area is home of the “Windy Nine”, a highly publicized group of 9 windy routes in the area. (google to whet your appetite!) I am considering going and will be talking about this as we get closer.
While at this year’s RA Rally, I went up to see David Percival’s museum, located in Andover, ME. David has probably the best collection of antique BMW Motorcycles, with over 100 examples for fine German engineering. See the gallery below for some pictures.
The following weekend, I attended the Vermont BMW Rally, always one of my favorites. I had to cut this one short, leaving on Saturday Morning, to return home to celebrate our 40th Anniversary with my wife! How time does fly by…
We then held our “Gathering of the Clams” rally, at the beautiful Camp Fuller. Despite the lower than hoped for turnout (at around 62) it was a successful rally and once again, a lot of fun!
Hope to see you all at the monthly meeting on the 14th.
Rubber side down!
