Welcome October! The leaves are turning, morning temperatures are cool and sometimes brisk, and the days are getting shorter!
Last month I did get to attend a Non Sport bike Track Day with 3 other members, Bill Kenney, Carl Saccoccio and John Fraser. The weather was perfect, and company exquisite! We all had a great day and walked away with increased riding knowledge, and BIG smiles on our faces! I know I have spoken about this before, but EVERYONE SHOULD ATTEND ONE OF THESE EVENTS!
The following weekend, I had plans on attending the MOV Rally in Goshen Vermont, but with only a weeks notice, the date was changed due to a scheduling conflict. They re-scheduled for the following weekend, but my wife and I had already made other plans. Oh well, hopefully next year.
The other plans I spoke of was an automobile trip to the Smokey Mountains! We spent a week in the Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg area, renting a house so we could bring along our furry friends! As I had been to this area before, I wanted my wife to experience it first hand. She was thoroughly impressed and fell in love with the fog over the mountains! This also checked off another National Park for us, this one being # 26! Next August , we are planning on heading to Washington State for 3 more!
On a side note, we did ride through the “Tail of the Dragon” in her Toyota Highlander, only having to pull over twice to let riders pass by and have their fun! No, I didn’t open the door and lean out on left hand turns! Note: fun road even in a car!
Unfortunately, the Ralph Razee ride was canceled due to the inclement weather. Hope next year brings sunshine!
Another event that was canceled due to rain was the Larz Anderson European Motorcycle Day. They have re-scheduled this for Saturday, October 17th from 8 am to 1 pm. Another event that everyone should get to! I will be heading up, (after breakfast somewhere) if anyone is interested in joining me.
Just a reminder: Morning dew on fallen leaves = slippery road conditions! Acorns from Oak trees are like ball bearings! Lets be careful out there!
Tuesday breakfast is at the Groundwater Café. Join us if you can!
Monthly meeting on the 12th at the Carriage Inn.
Rubber side down!
