Once again the Ocean State BMW Riders will shop, cook and serve the evening meal at the Providence Rescue Mission at 627 Cranston St, Providence, RI 02907, on Wednesday evening, December 11, 2024.
Our resident Chef, Vasilios Kourakis, will manage the kitchen and several sous chefs (of varying skill sets and levels of knowledge) will assist in this charitable endeavor. Several members will also set the tables and serve the food at 5:30 PM after the daily evening service at The Mission. There are usually about 100 to 120 dinners served at each evening meal.
The Mission has been serving the South Providence community since 1999, serving hundreds of thousands of evening meals, along with free lunches, and major events during the winter holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas where the Mission provides on site meals for the homeless and needy, and hundreds of food baskets including turkeys and all the fixins to the community as needed.
Our esteemed, late member Harry Kachadoorian suggested this event about eight years ago at a Monday monthly meeting, and by passing the hat and also with some larger anonymous gifts the club has been able to assist the mission about twice each year at no cost to the mission or the club treasury.
