Hello fellow OSBMWRiders! In an effort to widen your horizons with a longer version of my monthly letter, I am attempting to inflate my otherwise concise, to the point and uncontroversial letter with a smattering of, as the late great General Norman Schwartzkopf, Jr would say, Bovine Scatology, the quality of such is befitting of our fine publication!
We are now in September…the best month of the twelve most definitely. The weather is perfect (mind the occasional hurricane), and the tourists are back where they belong. The roads are, once again, OURS! We will start the month off properly with a hearty breakfast at Cindy’s in Scituate starting this Tuesday. Just watch the kids on the ride in as schools, and the cursed school busses, are out there again. Our most awesome rally is also later in the month. Let’s hope the rain gives us a reprieve this year! Our guests last year were good sports despite the bad weather and they deserve a break (this year).
I am currently waiting patiently for the DHL driver to deliver an interesting bike product..a Chigee AIO-5 Play for BMW bikes. It pops right into the factory BMW GPS cradle and pairs with my phone to give me Apple Car Play and all of its functionality. It also can display all of the technical data of the bike, such as engine temperature, speed, external temperature, TPMS, etc.. all of it controlled by the wonder wheel and the turn signal control. I have a 2016 R1200GSA. The analog speedometer is so small and tucked away that it’s very hard to read. This should help immensely. I can still pop the original BMW Nav V with basecamp back in if I so choose.
