Well, the clocks have been set ahead. The evenings are light later. It is getting warmer. Well, 2 out of 3 isn’t bad!
In last month’s newsletter, I spoke of a planned day trip to southern New Hampshire to visit motorcycle dealerships. Four of us went: myself, Norm Lamontagne, Mike Casey and Bob Grady. We stopped for breakfast at Good Days restaurant in Bridgewater, MA, (a good possibility for a destination, then a ride to Plymouth) then continued on to hit the HOV lane on the Southeast Expressway just 15 minutes before it closed for the morning. We went to 8 different dealerships and 1 bicycle shop. We returned home around 5pm after putting on around 300 miles. The day was successful, even though no one bought a new bike! Out of curiosity, I did check the price of a leftover 2023, only to find out that that particular dealership charged $1,300 in fees! Makes us really appreciate Razee’s!!!
At this months meeting, we are scheduled to have a guest speaker. Anthony Ricci, a familiar face amongst the RI Motorcycle Training. Anthony will be giving an informational talk on Motorcycle Traction Management. With this in mind, I’m thinking that it might be a good idea to arrive for dinner earlier, say 5:30 to 5:45. I will hold a short meeting starting around 6:45 so that we can accommodate Anthony for his talk. I am told that this talk should take around 1 hour, and will be worth while for all!
As most of us are contemplating taking our motorcycles out of winter storage for our first ride of the year, remember to check the fluids, charge the battery, and add air to the tires!
It is also a great time to take stock of our riding gear. Anything in need of some attention? Broken zippers or tears? There are lots of great deals out there this time of year!
As I write this article, I am faced with a personal problem. I have too many motorcycles (6) for my garage storage, and need to start thinning out my herd! With this, I have placed 1 of my bikes on consignment at Razee’s, with the possibility of more to follow. It is a very difficult decision as to which bike(s) to pass along. I find myself admiring each and every one, different as they are, for what their intended purpose is, whether it be off road, touring, sport touring, or track. (I know, I can hear the violins playing from all of you!) Time will tell what the future might bring.
Tuesday breakfast this month is at the Homestead Restaurant, 750 South County Trail, Exeter.
Monthly meeting on Monday, April 13th at the Carriage Inn.
Rubber side down,
