A Happy 250th Birthday! Hope you have been enjoying the warm (hot) temperatures this summer. We are off to a great start. The club had a great turnout at the MOA Rally. We had riders in tents, trailers, hotels, Sherpas, Airbnb, and sleeping in trucks and cars! Hats off to President Dave and Mike D for anchoring the Club’s rally point. It was shaded with plenty of seating and cold water always available. It was THE rally point within the rally. Our orange Ts made a bold statement throughout the rally. One day we switched to the Max green shirts in solidarity with the ostracized dealer. I still don’t know why they weren’t allowed inside the rally.
The weather was interesting for northern Vermont. Hot, humid with temps in the 90s followed by several bands of thunderstorms that finally cooled things off. In the process of cooling, the rain washed out many tents! The local riding was as expected: hills and curves and beautiful scenery.
The Rally was a typical MOA event. Plenty of vendors, dozens of seminars, live entertainment and an overall large turnout. As in the past several years, the focus is on the GS crowd. That bike remains the backbone of the BMW Motorrad family. In fact, there appeared to be a whole new class of apparel vendors focused on GS riders! I still can’t believe the number of manufacturers selling soft panniers. They seem to have made a comeback, although the huge aluminum ones have more places to attach “I’ve been there stickas!” A huge variety of food vendors, and as one would expect, some were meh… at best. One highlight was Brad Smith and his Boxflyer repair seminars. There was always a large crowd listening in and learning repair techniques.
