Well, these past couple of weeks have been absolutely gorgeous for riding!
On August 16th, I attended the annual Brit Jam show in Haddam Neck, CT. Another gorgeous day with a great turnout! If you’ve never been to Brit Jam, you owe it to yourself to go! There is a very nice display of older (and newer) British, German, Italian, Japanese and other makes of motorcycles. There is also a great flea market with just about anything! I rode my Guzzi V7 Stone Corsa there which was a hoot! I did sell that bike about 2 weeks later to a nice gentleman from Lebanon CT. I wish him well with his new bike! Brit Jam 2027 is on Sunday, August 15th.
Unfortunately, our annual picnic had to be canceled due to weather. As much as we wanted to re-schedule, the weekend picnic areas for Colt State Park were booked months in advance. Let’s hope for better weather for next year.
Another unfortunate situation was that the Vermont Club found out that the venue had double booked the date for their Rally. They had to re-scheduled until the NEXT weekend. New dates are September 18 – 20. This new date conflicts with a trip my wife and I had planned, so I will not be able to attend this year. I am disappointed, as this is one of my favorite Rallies.
This past Tuesday, I attended a Non Sport bike Training Day at Palmer Race Track. Also in attendance were Bill Kenney, Carl Saccoccio and John Fraser . As much as I have enjoyed track days in the past, this one was especially enjoyable with friends to share your experiences with! I can’t say enough how I feel that EVERYONE can greatly benefit from a track day training! THIS IS NOT A RACE! It is a controlled course where you will learn how to apply different techniques on operating a motorcycle. You learn in a classroom setting and then get to go out and apply what you have learned. There are coaches in classroom as well as on the track with you to assist in any way they can. Ken Condon puts only 2 of these events on every year. Next years dates are Tuesday, June 1st and Tuesday, September 7th. Please, mark your calendars and try to attend one!
Our Monthly meeting is on Monday, September 14th. I have been informed that we will be in the Pub area, as they have a booking for the Banquet Room. As their kitchen will be very busy, it might be a good idea to get there earlier for dinner. I am planning on being there for 5:30 to order before the rush! (as long as Providence traffic allows!)
Our September Tuesday Breakfast HAS BEEN MOVED to Cindy’s on Rte. 6 in Scituate!
